Welcome to the Placement and Testing Center

 

For All Placement Testing

Option 1: Meet with Entry Advising before taking a placement test, located on the top floor in Building 6, 2nd floor.

Placement and Testing Center

  • Meet with Entry Advising in Building 6, 2nd floor BEFORE taking any placement tests; All placement and faculty testing is done on a drop-in basis.
  • Arrive at least ONE HOUR before we close to begin ANY test.
  • Students who request a private room or other testing accommodations must schedule at least 48 hours in advance at the Placement and Testing Center, by calling the number listed, or by emailing testingcenter@highline.edu.
  • Students who receive extra time on tests as the only accommodation do NOT need to schedule in advance
  • All students testing in the Placement and Testing Center need to bring a photo ID and will be asked to lock up their belongings (cell phone/smartwatch, book bags, purses, electronic devices, etc.) in the lockers provided. Please turn OFF all electronics prior to placing them in the locker.
  • Parking: If you are parking, you must purchase a $2.00 daily parking ticket at one of the parking pay stations (kiosks), located in the East and South parking lots.
  • NEW: Cameras are utilized in the public testing center in an effort to ensure academic integrity standards for the college and related partners are being met. Cameras are only used to provide a live stream for monitoring purposes to authorized testing center staff.  No information is recorded. Cameras in the testing areas will not record information: they will not stream audio nor will data be saved,  or used for any other purposes not listed in these policies and procedures.
  • If cameras are present in the testing space, students will be alerted of their presence before beginning the test. Students will also be informed of the items they are allowed to bring into the testing space. Students can store other items in a designated storage space provided by the college.
  • If a student exhibits behaviors that might be deemed outside of the college’s academic integrity standards or any other external integrity standards relevant during test taking, testing center staff may act accordingly:
    • Intervene/address the concern directly with the student when appropriate,
    • Inform the instructor and/or other appropriate test administrators of the behavior
    • Make a referral to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.

Access Services and Testing Accommodations

The Access Services Office provides academic accommodations for students with disabilities.

Who Qualifies for Accommodations?

Students with a:

  • Documented physical, mental, or sensory disability (permanent or temporary).

Testing Accommodations

The Placement & Testing Center (PTC) provides testing accommodations for students with an approved accommodation.

Services Offered:

  • Private testing rooms
  • A reader or scribe
  • Other accommodations are available if needed.

How to Reserve Testing Accommodations:

Important Notes:

  • Confirm your approved accommodation(s) before requesting services.
  • There is NO need to schedule an appointment for an extra time accommodation.

For Faculty

  • Faculty can collaborate with the Access Services Office to ensure accommodations are implemented effectively.
