Retake Policy

If you believe you could be successful in a higher level course, we encourage you to retake the placement test. More than 75% of students who retake the math placement test place 1-2 levels higher: this saves you TIME and MONEY as you pursue your degree by not taking unnecessary courses.

For retake purposes, we define quarters to be:  The week after the end of one quarter through finals week of the next quarter.

WAMAP

Retake twice per quarter. Review your test results after your test to learn what errors were made and what content to practice before you take your second test. You can review the test topics and take a practice test before you retake the test. Attend a FREE Brush-Up Workshop to get more in-person support. Again, we strongly encourage all students to review and refresh rusty math skills and retake the placement test.

Accuplacer

Retake once per quarter. Students are limited to 4 attempts per year.

Directed Self Placement (DSP)

DSP is designed for students to make an accurate assessment of their skills and choose which course is best for them; therefore, retakes are not available. In the case that someone does want to change their placement, there is a writing assignment that will be given and reviewed by English faculty.
