Retake Policy

For retake purposes, we define quarters to be:  The week after the end of one quarter through finals week of the next quarter.

Informed Math Placement (IMP)

Informed Math Placement will help you choose the class that fits your skills, and guide you toward courses to reach your academic goals; therefore, retakes are not available. If you have questions about your course placement, meet with an Entry Advisor in Building 6, 2nd floor.

WAMAP

After taking the Informed Math Placement (IMP), if you believe you could be successful in a higher-level course, meet with an Entry Advisor to discuss your options. They might suggest that you take the WAMAP math test. We encourage you to practice and prepare before taking this test. Click HERE to create a WAMAP account and access practice materials. You can retake WAMAP twice per quarter. Review your test results with an Entry Advisor after your test to learn what errors were made and what content to practice before you take your second test. Attend a FREE Brush-Up Workshop to get more in-person support. Again, we strongly encourage all students to review and refresh rusty math skills and retake the placement test.

Accuplacer

Retake once per quarter. Students are limited to 4 attempts per year.

Informed Writing Placement (IWP)

IWP is designed for students to make an accurate assessment of their skills and choose which course is best for them; therefore, retakes are not available. In the case that someone does want to change their placement, there is a writing assignment that will be given and reviewed by English faculty.
